Mother & Baby Lactation Consultation:
The initial consultation generally lasts 1.5-2 hours and will include an assessment of both baby's oral/motor skills and mother's breasts. The focus of the visit will be evaluating the effectiveness of a feeding. We develop a plan to help mothers reach their breastfeeding goals. Unlimited phone and email follow-up is included for 2 weeks after consult. Reports can be provided for primary health care providers.
There are times when a concern may need more than one visit to resolve the situation. The focus again will be on the effectiveness of a feeding. Unlimited phone and email follow-up is included for 2 weeks after consult. Reports can be provided for primary health care providers.
Learn how to use your breast pump effectively. During this one-hour visit, we will discuss how and when to pump to protect your milk supply. (This visit does not cover breastfeeding assessment and assistance)
Travel Fee: Travel fees apply for visits beyond a 25-mile radius.
Payment: Payment is due at the time of service. Cash or checks are accepted.Worried about cost? An appointment with Upper Cumberland Lactation Services costs way less than a month of formula! On average a month of formula can cost families around $200-$300.
Insurance: After your visit, you will be provided with information for your insurance company if you wish to submit for reimbursement. Although many insurance companies do cover lactation care, it can not be guaranteed the services will be covered. Please check with your plan or account provider to see what options you may have.

Quality lactation support is far less expensive than the option of not breastfeeding!
